Sometimes it Feels like This is Necessary
This post is kind of a post that I think will be cathardic. I am sometimes frustrated when a customer calls me and wants information on copiers, sometimes taking up to 45 minutes of my time with questions and then when you call back they say, “I am not interested, bye.” OK, I understand I can’t win every deal, but this is just frustrating. They had no problem taking up 45 minutes of my time to ask questions, but once they decided to work with someone else, they can just blow off the reps they used to get information. So why would they do this, I had to ask… Why would they make it hard on their Tarrant County copier sales rep?
My only answer is either they are rude and selfish OR they have had bad experiences with copier reps in Tarrant County before. If it was the latter, it makes sense as they had circumstances where they probably had to debate why they went a certain direction. But couldn’t they offer something different, like this:
CR – Copier Rep // C – Customer
CR – Just wanted to follow up on the copier in Tarrant County I quoted to you last week.
C- We decided to go with someone else. If you had a few questions, I can answer them, but we have already made a decision so if you ask questions, please understand we have already made a decision and I am offering because you did try to help in our decision.
CR – Who did you decide to go with?
C – ABCDEFG Copier in Tarrant County.
CR – Were we close in price?
C – Obviously not close enough, I do appreciate your work though in getting me a quote and we’ll keep you in mind for the next copier we buy in Tarrant County.
CR – Well, I talked to my manger and we can come down $600 in costs on what I suggested.
C – It’s too bad you bring that up after you lost the deal, next time I would suggest you give us your best pricing up front. Any other questions?
CR – No. Thanks for the opportuntity.
C – Thanks for the work.
a conversation like this would let the copier rep know what he wants to know without taking 45 minutes. It is a simple courtesy after having asked for 45 minutes of the reps time. Food for thought.

How to Get an Old Copier Out of Your Office
Tarrant County Companies often are trying to figure out how to get rid of copiers AFTER they have bought their new copier which is kind of crazy given they would have more leverage if they were to do this BEFORE they bought the copier in Tarrant County in the first place. So, if you are in this position, what should you do? There are 3 good options in this scenario:
- If the copier works well, you could donate it to a non-profit who may have a need and then you could get a tax break.
- If your have a good relationship with your copier company, ask them to remove it since they just sold you a copier. If they want to charge too much you may want to just send it to a recycling company instead.
- Send it to a recycling company. We feel you should work with a company that complies with the Basel Action Network which certifies recycling companies who do not send all their electronics to Asia and Africa to sit in a landfill there.

Yes, we are a copier company in Tarrant County and we’re finding we’re having to tighten our belts and give better service than we’ve been expected to do for 20 years in the business. We don’t mind the challenge, as it is great to weed out some of the lesser competitors in Tarrant County, but it is difficult.

Is it Hard to get a Hold of Your Copier Rep?

Can you Get a Hold of Your rep
You signed your contract last month, everything with the copier worked well for the first few weeks, and now you have a few technical questions… the copier rep in Fort Worth that had called every day for a month is now taking 3 or 4 days to get back with you. What can you do? The unfortunate thing is there is not a whole lot you can do. This is why it’s so important to deal with a rep who you can trust. A rep in Fort Worth that will not just deal with the good times, but also with the bad times. How can you find such a rep?
One thing you can do is to inquire of your friends and find out if any of them have an experience with a rep that has consistently been on their side. One that has gone to bat for them on billing issues, one that has helped provide loaner equipment when they were down. One that is not always trying to charge them for every 5 minutes after the contract was signed in Fort Worth but promised everything for free before the contract was signed.
A good and honest copier rep is hard to find. If you have one, we would love to work with you but understand if you want to stay with them. We enjoy this relationship with our customers. If you have struggled getting fair pricing or callbacks from your current company until the lease was about us, wouldn’t it be wise to give another company a chance to bid and make your life easier as far as copiers in Fort Worth are concerned for the next 4 to 5 years?

If you're in charge of your Fort Worth copier management, are you being responsible?
Being in the Fort Worth copier business is an adventure every day. I generally divide groups of people I market copiers to into three basic categories:
1. Those who “Get It.”
2. Those who “Don’t Get It.”
3. Those who “Are Skeptical.”
Those who “get it” are by far the easiest to market to. They’re the market I make copier sales to. They are normally decisive, interested in the bottom line, and care about being responsible with their (if they’re an owner) or their company’s resources. They actually study the spreadsheets I make and look at the copier comparison feature of this site. They’re informed and responsible.
Those who “don’t get it” are BEYOND frustrating…they are generally so stuck in their old ways (“we need a huge copier with all the bells and whistles…even though we don’t use them”) that they end up squandering their company’s resources (people in this group are very rarely company owners!).
Those who “are skeptical.” This group is actually fairly easy to market to because after looking at hard cost comparisons, they will normally take several days to do the research. Three days later, I’ll get a surprise call with a copier order!
Take a close look at which group you are in. If you’re not open to looking at different types of Fort Worth copier technology, maybe you’re in group two. If so, there is a very good chance you’re not managing the office finances that have been entrusted to you. Do your copier research before buying or signing a copier lease in Fort Worth…make sure you’re being responsible with your resources!
